The Flower Group Process
The Flower Group imports flowers, fillers and greens from various parts of the world. Product arrives every day of the week so customers can always rely on finding fresh product in our cooler. Orders can be placed over the phone, by fax or email and product can be reserved prior to its arrival. When product arrives it is either shipped out that day or is cut, put in a bucket with treated water, then placed in the cooler. Product is packed in boxes and can be picked up by the customer or sent on delivery. Regular and broker price lists are faxed out weekly and are available online through the customer login.
Supplier Preparation
The Flower Group chooses to work with fresh flower suppliers that use the best options for flower care and packing for transport. The “wetpack percona” is a method used for soft flowers that allows them to travel in water with a protective casing supporting the blooms. Suppliers have strict quality control systems measuring stem length, bloom size, color mix and packing procedures. All of which contribute to the quality of the product.
Floralife™ Products
Fresh product is processed by trimming the stems and placing the bunch in water treated with “Floralife™ Clear Professional.” This is a product that nourishes and hydrates fresh flowers. Floralife™ also offers products which we use for cleaning buckets and the surrounding work area. These products are chosen because they disinfect without any risk of harming the fresh product.
The Cooler
The flower cooler is kept at a constant temperature of 36°F. It has refrigeration condensers that produce a low velocity air circulation inside the cooler which prevents dehydration to the flower blooms. The product in the cooler is well maintained to ensure each bucket has enough clean water.
Important Locations
The Flower Group relies on suppliers both locally and internationally. Some product is ordered directly from the grower while other product is purchased from auctions. Flower auctions are located in California, Holland and British Columbia. Auctions provide abundant selection at reasonable prices. Supplier locations include New Zealand, Australia, Ecuador, Columbia, Costa Rica, California, Israel, Thailand, Florida, British Columbia and Alberta.
